New Mumbai Police Commissioner Appointed

Deven Bharti, a seasoned IPS officer with a distinguished career, has been appointed as the new Mumbai Police Commissioner. This comes after the retirement of Vivek Phansalkar. Bharti, who joined the Indian Police Service in 1994, will officially take charge following Phansalkar’s departure.

A Track Record of Excellence

Bharti isn’t new to the Mumbai Police force. He previously served as the Special Commissioner and has a history of handling major cases. He was also promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) from Joint Commissioner of Police. His experience as the longest-serving Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) from April 2015 speaks volumes about his expertise.

Tackling High-Profile Cases

Bharti is known for his work on high-profile cases, including the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and the murder of journalist J Dey. He’s also credited with significantly weakening the Indian Mujahideen terror group in Maharashtra.

Ready to Lead

With his extensive experience and proven track record, Deven Bharti is poised to lead the Mumbai Police force as it continues to protect and serve the city.
