Thunderstorm Turns IPL Match into ‘Absolute Chaos’

The IPL match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata took a wild turn thanks to a powerful thunderstorm. Former cricketer Matthew Hayden, who was commentating for JioHotstar, described the scene as “absolute chaos.”
The heavy winds blew covers off the field, catching ground staff off guard. Hayden even saw people get “launched into the air” as they tried to hold down the covers. Imagine trying to hold down a giant tarp in a hurricane! That’s what it was like for the ground crew.
The game had to be first paused and then eventually called off. The Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a good start, scoring 7 runs without losing a wicket in the first over, but the storm had other plans.
Hayden said the rain and wind came on suddenly, catching everyone by surprise. He also mentioned the ground staff had to sit on the covers to keep them from blowing away, highlighting just how strong the winds were.
It seems like Mother Nature had the final say in this match, turning what should have been a thrilling cricket game into a wild and unpredictable spectacle.
