Sehwag Hammers CSK’s Batting Order: ‘Half the Players Want to Go Home’

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a rough IPL season, and former cricketer Virender Sehwag isn’t holding back in his criticism. After their seventh loss in nine matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sehwag took aim at CSK’s batting strategy, particularly the use of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in the order.
Sehwag was particularly harsh on Jadeja’s strike rate, saying it was poor. He argued that Jadeja should have stayed at the crease longer to give the team a foundation to build around.
“Half the CSK batters are asking when they will be able to go home, let this tournament come to an end,” Sehwag stated on Cricbuzz.
He also questioned why Sam Curran, who typically bats higher in the order, was sent in at No. 3. Sehwag suggested that Dewald Brevis, CSK’s standout batsman with a quick 42 runs, should have batted higher.
“I can’t understand what Sam Curran is doing at No.3 in this line-up. He has played up the order for sure, he has batted No.4 in ILT20 and he has played that role intelligently. But, in this line-up, when you have Brevis, play him at No.3. Then Dube can come in next, followed by Jadeja, Sam Curran and Deepak Hooda,” Sehwag explained.
Despite Brevis’s impressive innings, CSK’s total of 154 wasn’t enough. SRH chased down the target with ease, leaving CSK at the bottom of the IPL table with their playoff hopes fading fast.
