Indian Cricket Board Tells Podcast to Remove IPL Videos

IPL Podcast Gets Legal Threat
A popular cricket podcast, The Grade Cricketer, has been ordered by Indian authorities to take down hundreds of videos about the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The podcast, hosted by Sam Perry and Ian Higgins, is known for its daily show about the IPL, nicknamed ‘The Big IPL Breakfast’. The hosts were even planning to travel to India for live shows during the tournament this week.
The trouble started when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL sent a legal letter to the show’s producers over the weekend. The letter demanded the removal of photos and logos from videos on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
According to a source, the legal notice claimed that Grade Cricketer was using still images from the IPL for ‘commercial’ purposes, rather than just ‘editorial’ uses.
The Grade Cricketer has a huge following, with over a million listeners and viewers in Australia and around the world. Now, it remains to be seen what will happen to the show’s plans for the IPL season.
