Ajay Jadeja Defends Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL Century, Criticizes Shubman Gill’s Remarks

Jadeja Calls Out Gill’s Understatement
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja isn’t happy with Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill’s comments about Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After Suryavanshi smashed a record-breaking century, leading the Royals to a comfortable victory, Gill simply said it was the youngster’s ‘day’.
Jadeja, who was commentating on the match for Star Sports, was visibly annoyed. He argued that Gill wasn’t giving Suryavanshi enough credit for his incredible performance. Jadeja emphasized that a 14-year-old showing such belief and hitting prowess deserves much more recognition, especially considering the pressure of playing in the IPL.
Suryavanshi’s Historic Century
Vaibhav Suryavanshi truly stole the show with his blistering 101 runs off just 38 balls. He smashed 11 sixes and 7 fours, reaching his century in a record 35 balls. This makes him the second-fastest to score a hundred in IPL history and the fastest Indian to achieve this feat.
His remarkable performance also earned him a place in history as the youngest player in IPL and T20 history to score a century, accomplishing it at just 14 years and 32 days old. His 166-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal is the highest ever for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
More Than Just a Fluke
Suryavanshi’s incredible talent is no fluke. He has already represented India U-19 and made a name for himself in domestic cricket. From smashing a six on his first IPL ball to breaking records, the youngster’s journey is just beginning, and he deserves all the praise coming his way.
