The monsoon season has brought devastating rains across India, causing widespread damage and loss of life.

Maharashtra Hit Hard

In Maharashtra’s Marathwada region, six people tragically lost their lives in rain-related incidents on Tuesday, according to Jagran.com. Four people drowned, one was electrocuted, and another died when a tree fell. The heavy rains have triggered flooding in Nanded and Beed districts, while other areas are battling severe waterlogging. Latur city faced widespread disruption after just two hours of intense rainfall, and Mumbai reported around 70 incidents of falling trees due to the downpour.

Kerala Struggles with Flooding and Disruptions

Kerala has been pounded by incessant rains for the past four days, disrupting both road and rail transport. Strong winds and rising river levels have added to the crisis, leading to delays in many trains, including the Vande Bharat Express to Thiruvananthapuram. Homes in North Wayanad have been flooded, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kozhikode, Kannur, and Wayanad. An orange alert is in place for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kasaragod.

Tamil Nadu Feels the Impact

Tamil Nadu is also experiencing the brunt of the monsoon. In Nilgiris, rain has continued for the third consecutive day, damaging 17 houses and displacing residents. At least 275 people have been relocated to temporary relief camps, and restoration work is underway for water and power supply.

Delhi Sees Brief Relief, But Thunderstorms Loom

After a spell of storms and rain, Delhi experienced a brief respite with temperatures rising as the sky cleared on Tuesday. However, the IMD forecasts the return of thunderstorms and rain starting Friday night.
