Maharashtra Goes Electric: Big Subsidies and Toll Waivers for EV Owners

Maharashtra’s Big Push for Electric Vehicles
Maharashtra is making a serious commitment to electric vehicles (EVs)! The state government has just approved a brand new EV policy that aims to get more people driving electric cars, buses, and trucks. It also wants to build up the whole infrastructure needed to support EVs, like charging stations and battery factories.
What’s in it for EV Owners?
Here’s the good news for anyone thinking about switching to an EV:
- Toll Waivers: Buses and heavy vehicles will get a sweet deal – complete toll exemptions at designated plazas!
- Subsidies: You’ll get a 10% subsidy on the total cost of your EV, which can save you a pretty penny.
- Easy Financing: Financing your EV will be a breeze with 100% loan facilities available.
Charging Up the State
To make EVs more practical, Maharashtra is making it a priority to build more charging stations. In fact, they’re even making it mandatory for new buildings (like apartment complexes) to have charging stations. If they don’t, they won’t get permission to open! Older buildings will be encouraged to install charging units too, with the help of local politicians.
Municipalities will also set aside 1% of their budget every year to fund EV-related infrastructure.
A Big Investment in the Future
Maharashtra is planning a massive investment in infrastructure, with up to $100 billion expected to flow into the state in the coming months. This investment will help make Maharashtra a major hub for logistics and manufacturing, and EVs will play a big role in that future.
