Maharashtra Braces for 5-6 Days of Heavy Rain as Monsoon Arrives

Maharashtra to Get 5-6 Days of Rains as Monsoon Advances
Maharashtra is gearing up for a rainy spell as the southwest monsoon continues to make its way across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert, predicting rainfall for the next five to six days across various parts of the state.
According to the IMD, the Konkan region and the ghat areas of central Maharashtra will likely experience widespread to fairly widespread rainfall, with some areas even seeing heavy to very heavy downpours.
The IMD also expects scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (reaching up to 40-50 kmph) over central Maharashtra and Marathwada from May 25th to 27th. This comes as a low-pressure area, which was previously a depression over central Maharashtra, is moving slowly eastward and weakening.
Monsoon’s Progress Across India
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has made significant progress in recent days. It has now reached parts of the west central and east central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, the west central and north Bay of Bengal, Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland.
The IMD predicts the monsoon will continue to advance over the next three days, bringing rainfall to other areas of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Karnataka (including Bengaluru), Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, west central and north Bay of Bengal, and northeastern states.
