The Maharashtra government has granted a three-month extension to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged irregularities in the granting of liquor licenses in Chandrapur. The SIT, led by Deputy Inspector General of Police (ACB, Mumbai) Sandeep Diwan, was initially tasked with investigating complaints of malpractices, irregularities, and bribery in the licensing process.
According to a government official, the investigation’s scope is extensive and requires meticulous scrutiny. This includes verifying a large number of excise license documents received from the Superintendent (state excise) and recording detailed statements from various stakeholders.
