Cargo Ship Sinks Off Kerala Coast

A Liberian-flagged cargo ship, the MSC ELSA 3, has sunk off the coast of Kerala, India, sparking concerns about a potential oil spill. The ship was carrying a dangerous cargo, including 13 containers of hazardous materials and 12 containers of calcium carbide, in addition to hundreds of tons of fuel stored in its tanks.
All Crew Members Rescued
Thankfully, all 24 crew members on board the MSC ELSA 3 were successfully rescued by the Indian Coast Guard. The Coast Guard issued a statement on Sunday detailing the events and emphasizing the crew’s safe evacuation.

The sinking of the MSC ELSA 3 and the presence of hazardous materials and fuel onboard have raised fears of a significant oil spill. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and working to contain any potential environmental damage.
