India Sees Rise in COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths in 24 Hours

COVID-19 Cases in India Surge to 6,491
As of June 9, 2024, India reported a total of 6,491 active COVID-19 cases, marking an increase of 358 cases from the previous day. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Kerala remains the worst-affected state with 1,957 active cases.

The national capital, Delhi, recorded 42 new cases in 24 hours, taking its total tally to 728. Other worst-affected states include:
- Kerala: 1,957 active cases
- Gujarat
- West Bengal
- Delhi: 728 total cases
- Maharashtra
On the other hand, some of the least-affected states are:
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Mizoram
- Tripura
- Chandigarh
- Himachal Pradesh
No COVID-19 Deaths in 24 Hours
The Health Ministry reported no COVID-related deaths in India over the last 24 hours, keeping the total death toll at 65 since January 2025. Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of deaths at 18, followed by Kerala with 15 deaths.
COVID-19 Recovery Tally
In a positive turn, 624 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. The total number of patients discharged since January 2025 stands at 6,861.
Government Prepares for Potential Surge
To enhance preparedness, the central government has initiated mock drills across hospitals nationwide, evaluating critical resources such as oxygen supply, ventilators, and essential medicines to handle potential surges efficiently.
The situation demands continued vigilance and adherence to health guidelines to mitigate the spread of the virus.
