Aamir Khan’s Heartfelt Absence

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan wasn’t at the special screening of his classic comedy, ‘Andaz Apna Apna,’ which took place in Mumbai recently. The film is getting a re-release in theaters this Friday, and a preview was held for the cast and crew. While everyone else celebrated, Aamir decided to stay away.

He explained to Subhash K Jha that the terrible attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, deeply affected him. Twenty-six innocent tourists were killed in the senseless violence, and Aamir felt he wasn’t in the right headspace to attend the screening. He wanted to take some time to process the tragedy.

The Pahalgam attack sparked outrage across the country, with many people, including fellow Bollywood stars, expressing their grief and anger. Several film events and screenings were also postponed as a mark of respect for the victims.

A Cult Classic Returns

‘Andaz Apna Apna,’ which also stars Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, was released in 1994. Even though it didn’t do well at the box office back then, it has become a beloved cult classic over the years, considered one of the best comedies in Hindi cinema.

Interestingly, Aamir shared that he and director Rajkumar Santoshi were the only ones who truly believed in the film. They loved it even when it wasn’t a hit. Now, years later, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is a huge success on home entertainment, proving that great movies find their audience eventually.
