A 22-year-old medical student in Maharashtra’s Sangli district is fighting for justice after being brutally gang-raped by three men, including two of her classmates, who spiked her drink.

The incident, which took place on May 18th, has sent shockwaves through the community. According to police, the accused, aged between 20 and 22 and hailing from Pune, Solapur, and Sangli, lured the victim to a flat under the pretense of watching a movie.

A Night of Terror

At the flat, they plied her with a spiked drink, rendering her unconscious. While she was incapacitated, the trio took advantage of her vulnerability and sexually assaulted her. Fearing for her safety, the survivor was threatened by the perpetrators into silence.

Thankfully, she found the courage to tell her parents about the horrific ordeal. They immediately contacted the Vishrambag police station, leading to the arrest of the three accused.

Justice Sought

The accused have been remanded in police custody until May 27th as authorities continue their investigation. They have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for gang rape and other related offenses.
