Mumbai Braces for Intense Rainfall, Orange Alert Issued

Mumbai, Brace Yourself: Heavy Rains on the Way! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Konkan and Goa, signaling a potential deluge for the region. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, and the ghats of Pune and Satara are under an orange alert, with forecasts predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds up to 60 kmph.
Red Alert Issued for Konkan, Goa The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas of Konkan and Goa, urging residents to stay vigilant and be prepared to move to safer locations if necessary. The department predicts widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds between May 23 and 29.
Delhi to Experience Pre-Monsoon Showers Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to see partly cloudy skies with chances of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. The IMD predicts thunderstorms and rainfall on May 24, partly cloudy skies with possible thunder and lightning on May 25 and 26, and rain or thundershowers on May 27.
Kerala Reels Under Heavy Rains
Heavy rains have caused disruption in several parts of Kerala, prompting a red alert in Thiruvananthapuram for three hours on Friday due to intense rain and strong winds. The IMD predicts widespread rainfall throughout the week, with fishing banned along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts from May 24 to 27.
Andhra Pradesh to Face Thunderstorms
Andhra Pradesh is bracing for five consecutive days of thunderstorms from May 23 to 27, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds up to 60 kmph. The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall in isolated areas of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam on May 27.
Jharkhand Under Thunderstorm Warning
Jharkhand is expected to experience widespread thunderstorms, rainfall, and gusty winds in the coming days. Below-normal maximum temperatures are expected to continue until May 29, with the IMD forecasting “cumulatively large excess rainfall” from May 30 to June 5.
