Maharashtra Dams Release Water to Aid Farmers in Ahilyanagar

Water Flowing for Farmers
Good news for farmers in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district! Officials have announced the release of a significant amount of water from the Bhandardara and Nilawande dams. These reservoirs, located on the Pravara river, are vital sources of irrigation for the region.
According to the Water Resources Department, a combined 3,700 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water is being released. That’s 2,400 cusecs from the Nilawande dam and 1,300 cusecs from the Bhandardara dam. This water release cycle usually lasts for about 15 to 20 days.
Boosting Agriculture
This surge in water flow is expected to have a major positive impact on the surrounding areas. It will enhance irrigation, which means farmers can grow more crops and boost agricultural productivity.
Farmers in Ahilyanagar rely heavily on water from these dams, especially during crucial growing seasons. This release will provide them with the essential water supply they need to keep their crops thriving.
