Suresh Raina Says MS Dhoni Will Play at Least One More IPL Season

Chennai Super Kings are having a rough time in the IPL 2025 season. They’re at the bottom of the table with only two wins in nine games. This has sparked a lot of talk about the team needing a major shakeup before next season. There are also questions about what will happen with MS Dhoni, but Suresh Raina, CSK’s ‘Chinna Thala’, has a pretty clear idea.

Raina says Dhoni is definitely coming back for at least one more season. He thinks the team needs to do a lot better in all areas – fielding, batting, and bowling. Raina believes the next season’s success will depend heavily on how well CSK does in the upcoming auction.

Interestingly, Raina doesn’t think Dhoni is heavily involved in the team’s player selections. He says that while everyone assumes Dhoni makes the final call, he hasn’t actually been part of any auction discussions. Raina thinks Dhoni might give input on a few players, but the core team handles most of the decision-making.

Even though Dhoni isn’t hitting many winning runs this season, Raina isn’t expecting that from a 43-year-old. He’s happy to see Dhoni keeping wickets, captaining, and trying his best with the bat. Raina just wants to see the other players step up and contribute more.

He pointed out that some players are paid very high salaries but aren’t performing as expected. This is especially concerning because CSK has traditionally been very strong against certain teams, but they’ve been losing to them lately. Raina thinks the team needs to figure out which players are truly match-winners and who they can rely on.

Raina even hints that Dhoni might be planning some big changes after seeing the team’s struggles. He says Dhoni will likely want to be alone to figure things out, knowing the team didn’t buy the right players in the auction. Raina thinks Dhoni has already made up his mind about what needs to happen next.
