Tornadoes Leave Trail of Destruction and Grief in Kentucky and Missouri

Powerful storms and tornadoes ripped through the Midwest and South overnight Friday, leaving a path of destruction and heartbreak in their wake.
Kentucky has been hit particularly hard, with at least 24 confirmed fatalities. The devastation is centered in London, Kentucky, in the southeastern part of the state, where 23 people tragically lost their lives. Authorities are still working to locate missing individuals.
Governor’s Plea
Governor Andy Beshear issued an urgent call for prayers for the affected families early Saturday morning. However, the tragic toll continued to rise less than an hour later with another 10 deaths reported.
Missouri Mourns
In Missouri, at least seven people have been killed, five in the St. Louis area and two others in a more rural region south of the state capital. Emergency responders are tirelessly searching homes and buildings for survivors, while officials are urging residents to avoid affected areas to allow rescue crews to work safely.
Widespread Power Outages
The storms have left a vast swath of the country in darkness. According to PowerOutage.us, nearly half a million customers are without power across dozens of states, stretching from Missouri to Maryland.
This is an unfolding tragedy, and we will continue to update as more information becomes available.
