Mystery Deportation Flight: Judge Investigates Trump-Era Action

A federal judge in Boston is questioning the Trump administration’s actions after a deportation flight took off with eight immigrants from Texas on Tuesday. The judge, Brian E. Murphy, had previously issued an order barring the government from deporting people to countries they don’t belong to without giving them a 15-day warning.
Flight’s Destination Under Wraps
While Homeland Security officials confirmed the flight took place, they refused to disclose the destination during a news conference in Washington. During the court hearing, a Justice Department lawyer told Judge Murphy that the flight had landed but insisted on keeping the specific location secret.
Djibouti, a Possible Stopover
However, two unnamed sources familiar with the situation revealed to The New York Times that the flight landed in Djibouti, an east African nation. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to talk publicly about the matter.
A U.S. official confirmed that American military personnel in Djibouti were prepared to assist with securing any detainees if necessary.
Unanswered Questions Remain
The judge’s scrutiny highlights concerns surrounding the Trump administration’s deportation practices and the potential for bypassing legal protections.
