Capitals Bounce Back in Game 2

The Washington Capitals showed they’re not going down without a fight in their second-round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes. After a disappointing overtime loss in Game 1, the Capitals dominated Game 2, winning 3-1 to even the series.

Wilson Leads the Charge

Tom Wilson was a force to be reckoned with in Game 2. He blocked shots, set up the winning goal, and added an empty-netter to seal the deal. The Capitals looked more like their regular-season selves, skating with energy and taking advantage of their opportunities.

McMichael, Carlson Find the Back of the Net

Connor McMichael opened the scoring for the Capitals with a breakaway goal, while John Carlson added a power-play goal assisted by Wilson. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren stood tall, stopping 27 of 28 shots.

Thompson Shines in Net

After the first-round series against Montreal, it’s clear that Lindgren is a tough competitor. “He kept us in the game,” said captain Alex Ovechkin. “He gave us confidence.”

Hurricanes Face Adversity

Despite getting 18 saves from Frederik Andersen and a power-play goal from Shayne Gostisbehere, the Hurricanes couldn’t overcome their deficit. Their perfect penalty kill streak was snapped on Carlson’s goal.

Looking Ahead

The series shifts to Raleigh, North Carolina for Game 3 on Saturday. The Hurricanes are known for their home-ice advantage, but the Capitals will be looking to maintain their momentum.
