Biden Slams Trump’s Presidency in BBC Interview, Calls Conduct ‘Beneath America’

Biden Takes Aim at Trump in First Post-White House Interview
Six months after leaving the White House, former President Joe Biden is making headlines with a forceful critique of his successor, Donald Trump, and his approach to international affairs. In his first broadcast interview since leaving office, Biden spoke candidly with the BBC, expressing strong disapproval of Trump’s handling of the war in Ukraine and his relationships with global allies.
Biden specifically criticized Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in February, calling it ‘sort of beneath America in the way that it took place.’ He also cited Trump’s proposals to rename the Gulf of Mexico, reclaim the Panama Canal, and purchase Greenland as further evidence of problematic foreign policy decisions.
The former president’s comments mark a clear escalation in his public criticism of Trump, who continues to hold significant sway within the Republican Party.
Biden Defends Withdrawal from 2024 Race
Beyond his criticism of Trump’s presidency, Biden also addressed his decision to step aside from the 2024 presidential race. He defended the timing of his withdrawal, suggesting that it was necessary to allow for a new generation of Democratic leadership to emerge.
