Elon Musk: ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Disappointing and Undermines DOGE’s Work

Musk Criticizes ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who played a key role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)’s cost-cutting efforts, expressed disappointment over the massive Republican-backed spending bill passing through the House.
Disappointment and Concerns
In a preview of an upcoming interview on ‘CBS Sunday Morning,’ Musk stated, “I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit…and it undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”
The ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’
The bill, dubbed the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ by Republicans, passed the House last Thursday after intense negotiations and last-minute revisions that secured GOP support. It now heads to the Senate for consideration.
Bill’s Key Provisions
This expansive legislation includes several significant provisions:
- Extends tax cuts enacted in 2017 by President Trump.
- Increases funding for border security, deportations, and national defense.
- Imposes stricter work requirements for Medicaid, potentially leading to millions losing health insurance.
- Rolls back incentives for green energy.
- Raises the debt limit by $4 trillion.
Musk’s Opinion
Musk, who stepped back from his White House role after months of streamlining government spending and downsizing the federal workforce, commented on the bill’s name, saying, “I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful. I don’t know if it could be both. My personal opinion.”
