Real Madrid has officially announced the return of a beloved legend, Xabi Alonso, as their new head coach. Alonso, who graced the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for five trophy-laden seasons between 2009 and 2014, has signed a three-year deal that will see him lead the team until June 30, 2028.

During his playing days, he was a key member of the historic 10th European Cup-winning team in Lisbon, lifting a total of six titles for the club.
Alonso’s incredible journey extends beyond Real Madrid. He was a cornerstone of the Spanish national team, earning 113 caps and playing a pivotal role in their triumphs at the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships (2008 and 2012).
He began his coaching career in the Real Madrid youth academy, guiding the Infantil A team to a league title and the Champions Tournament in the 2018-2019 season. Following that, he made waves in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, leading them to impressive victories in the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup over three consecutive seasons.
The announcement was met with immense excitement from fans worldwide, who eagerly await Alonso’s return to the Bernabéu. His official unveiling is scheduled for Monday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. at Real Madrid City.
