Pakistan Cricket Team Won’t Play in India for the World Cup

Pakistan women’s cricket team opener Gull Feroza has confirmed that her team won’t be traveling to India for the 2025 Women’s World Cup. This comes after tensions rose following a recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Pakistan already secured their spot in the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India this September. It looks like the tournament will likely follow a hybrid model, similar to the recent Asia Cup, where Pakistan’s matches against India will be held at a neutral venue. This decision has stirred up controversy, especially since India is hosting the global event.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi had already stated that the team wouldn’t travel to India for the World Cup, and Feroza echoed this sentiment in a recent interview. She expressed that the team is focused on playing in Asian conditions and isn’t interested in playing in India.
She added that regardless of the location, the team is prepared to play in conditions similar to those they’re used to at home, hoping the World Cup games will be held in places like Sri Lanka or Dubai.
This isn’t the first time cricket matches between India and Pakistan have been affected by political tensions. Earlier this year, the Indian men’s team also chose not to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, resulting in their matches, including the final, being held in Dubai.
