Mike Hesson Takes the Helm: Pakistan’s New White-Ball Coach

Pakistan Names Mike Hesson as White-Ball Coach
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced Mike Hesson as the new head coach for the men’s white-ball team. This appointment comes after a period of interim leadership by Aqib Javed, who stepped in following Gary Kirsten’s departure in October 2024.
Hesson brings a wealth of international experience to the role. He previously served as head coach for both New Zealand and Kenya. Notably, under his guidance, the New Zealand team, known as the ‘Black Caps,’ rose to prominence, even reaching the final of the 2015 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Hesson’s Proven Track Record
Currently, Hesson is the head coach of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His proven ability to develop and lead successful teams makes him a strong choice for the PCB. Hesson’s official tenure as Pakistan’s white-ball coach will begin on May 26th.
Javed Transitions to Director of High Performance
Aqib Javed, who has been leading the team on an interim basis, will remain involved with Pakistan cricket in a new capacity. He will transition to the role of Director of High Performance for the PCB.
