Hazlewood Returns: RCB’s IPL Title Dream Gets a Boost

Hazlewood Arrives in Lucknow, Ready to Fire for RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans can breathe a sigh of relief! Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, a key player in RCB’s campaign, has finally arrived in Lucknow ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs.
His arrival comes after weeks of anticipation and speculation. There were concerns that Hazlewood might not return to India, opting instead to focus on preparing for the upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa.
A shoulder injury had also kept Hazlewood out of action for a while, adding to the anxiety among RCB supporters. However, he’s now back and raring to go.
RCB’s Pace Spearhead Back in Action
Hazlewood’s return is a massive boost for RCB, who have dearly missed his experience and skill in the bowling department. His absence was particularly evident in their recent loss to SunRisers Hyderabad, where RCB conceded over 230 runs. Hazlewood has been RCB’s standout bowler in IPL 2025, taking 18 wickets in just 10 matches.
He’s been a consistent threat with both the new ball and at the death, picking up crucial wickets throughout the tournament. His presence will undoubtedly strengthen RCB’s bowling attack as they aim for their maiden IPL title.
Last-Minute Boost for Playoffs
The excitement is palpable as RCB look to make a strong run in the playoffs. Hazlewood’s return adds another layer of confidence to the team.
While RCB have already secured a playoff berth, they need to win their final league match against Lucknow Super Giants to have a chance at finishing in the top two.
They’ll also be hoping that either Gujarat Titans or Punjab Kings slip up in their remaining matches to secure a favorable playoff position.
RCB’s official social media handle announced Hazlewood’s arrival with a picture of him landing in Lucknow and a welcoming message: “He’s here. Welcome back, Josh Reginald Hazlewood!”
Hazlewood himself expressed his joy at being back, stating, “Yeah obviously, it’s great to be back. Made the most of the last week in Brisbane and bowled quite a few overs. Everything is feeling very good. Hopefully, will get the ball rolling. Looking forward to practice.”
