Bangladesh Cricket Tour of Pakistan in Limbo

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is facing a tough decision regarding their upcoming tour of Pakistan for a five-match T20I series. While the team is set to travel to the UAE for a two-match series against the Emirates, the BCB remains undecided about the Pakistan trip due to heightened border tensions between Pakistan and India.

Tensions Impact Cricket Series

The board’s decision comes after the postponement of both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the escalating border situation. The BCB is prioritizing the safety and security of its players and support staff, making the Pakistan tour a sensitive issue.

Earlier, the Emirates Cricket Board had announced that Bangladesh would play two T20Is against the UAE in Sharjah on May 17 and 19. The five T20Is against Pakistan were scheduled from May 25 to June 3.

BCB’s Cautious Approach

The BCB directors met at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday to discuss their next steps. In a statement, the BCB confirmed the UAE tour and said they are actively discussing the Pakistan tour with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

‘The safety and security of our players and support staff remain our highest priority. All decisions concerning the tour will be made with careful consideration of the current situation in Pakistan, ensuring they align with the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket,’ the statement added.
