Ancelotti Blames Communication Breakdown for Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey Loss

Real Madrid suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, losing 3-2 in extra time. The deciding goal came in the 116th minute when Barcelona’s Jules Kounde capitalized on a miscommunication between Real Madrid players Luka Modric and Brahim Diaz.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti took responsibility for the gaffe, explaining that Diaz thought Modric would pass the ball behind him, but that didn’t happen. ‘Modric’s mistake or Brahim’s? Brahim thought Luka would have put the ball behind him,’ Ancelotti said.
The match was a rollercoaster of emotions. Pedri opened the scoring for Barcelona early on, but Real Madrid fought back with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni. Ferran Torres equalized for Barcelona, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Kounde’s winner sealed Barcelona’s 32nd Copa del Rey title, a record for the Catalan giants. The loss extends Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey drought and adds to the pressure on Ancelotti’s side.
Despite the disappointment in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid still has a chance to catch Barcelona in La Liga. They trail the league leaders by four points with five games remaining.
