Ahmedabad in Line for IPL 2025 Playoffs and Final

Get ready for a grand finale! Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is the frontrunner to host both the Qualifier 2 and the final of IPL 2025, according to Cricbuzz. These high-stakes matches are scheduled for June 1st and 3rd, respectively.

Weather Watch: The Key Factor

While the official announcement is still pending, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is keeping a close eye on the monsoon season’s progress. Currently, the forecast looks good for early June in Ahmedabad, making it a prime choice for the crucial playoff matches.

Mumbai in the Running, But Weather Uncertain

Mumbai is another strong contender for the first two playoffs games (Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator). However, recent heavy rainfall and overcast conditions in the city have cast some doubt. The BCCI will likely make a final decision soon, considering other North Indian venues like Delhi, Jaipur, or Lucknow as alternatives if Mumbai’s weather doesn’t cooperate.

Logistics and Continuity: Why Cities Remain Consistent

The BCCI is aiming for operational efficiency and minimizing disruptions. Moving the entire IPL setup to a new city for the playoffs would be logistically complex, involving the transportation of broadcast equipment and infrastructure.

This explains why venues are likely to be among the six cities already hosting the remaining league matches. The exception is Mumbai, which is strategically positioned in the IPL map and has already hosted a good number of games.

The Suspended Matches and Venue Changes

The IPL’s resumption after a suspension has led to some venue shifts. Teams like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), with only one remaining home game, will play it in Delhi, keeping logistics in mind. Kolkata, facing unpredictable weather, had its final two games moved away from Eden Gardens.

Meanwhile, Jaipur has emerged as a hub, hosting three matches post-resumption, including two home games for Punjab Kings, after their original home venues of Mohali and Dharamsala were deemed unsuitable due to border concerns.

IPL Resumption: A Look Ahead

The IPL is geared up for its comeback on May 17th. The remaining 17 matches will be played across six centers: Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, and Chennai.
