Mumbai: In a surprising turn of events, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the recovery of Rs 1.8 crore in cash from a government guest house in Dhule, Maharashtra.

The discovery has sparked controversy and outrage from the opposition, who allege that the cash was linked to bribes paid to Shiv Sena leader and MLA Arjun Kothakar and his personal assistant Kishor Patil. According to local leader Anil Gote, the SIT formation is an attempt by the government to downplay the incident and prevent the truth from coming out.

Allegations of Bribery

Gote further alleged that Kothakar, who was reportedly in Dhule for a budget meeting with other MLAs, collected Rs 5 crore in bribes in exchange for government contracts. He claims this money was intended to be distributed among ruling party MLAs, highlighting a potential large-scale scam involving the allocation of government contracts in Maharashtra.

According to Gote, contractors are being exploited, forced to pay bribes for contracts. This, he says, leads to inferior work and misuse of taxpayer money.
