Preity Zinta Calls Shreyas Iyer a ‘Down-to-Earth’ Leader

Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta recently held a Q&A session on social media, giving fans a peek behind the scenes of the IPL team. One question that caught her attention was about captain Shreyas Iyer. Zinta was quick to heap praise on the stylish batter, describing him as a ‘down-to-earth guy and an amazing captain.’

Zinta shared that Iyer’s leadership qualities extend beyond the field. She added, ‘Very tactical and aggressive in his approach as a player, but the sweetest and the most soft-spoken guy.’

Iyer Was Always the Plan

In a revealing statement, Zinta revealed that Shreyas Iyer was Punjab Kings’ only choice for captaincy during the 2024 IPL auction. ‘We are very happy that he is leading Punjab Kings and happier we could get him in the auction, as he was our first and only choice for captaincy. Therefore, the whole auction revolved around him for us as a team,’ she wrote.
