Vijay Deverakonda Sparks Debate After Speaking Out on Pahalgam Attack

Actor Vijay Deverakonda made some strong comments about the recent Pahalgam terror attack at the pre-release event for the upcoming Suriya movie, Retro. He didn’t hold back, expressing his thoughts on the situation in a blend of Telugu and English.
Deverakonda emphasized the importance of education in combating terrorism, saying, ‘The solution to what is happening in Kashmir is also to educate them and ensure they don’t get brainwashed. What will they achieve?’ He shared a personal connection to Kashmir, recalling his filming experience there for the movie Kushi two years ago. He fondly remembered the locals and stated, ‘Kashmir belongs to India, and Kashmiris are ours.’
He then went on to criticize Pakistan, saying, ‘Pakistan can’t even look after their own, who don’t have proper electricity and water. What do they want to do here?’ He added, ‘India doesn’t even need to attack Pakistan because Pakistanis themselves are fed up with their government and will attack them if this continues. They behave like tribals did 500 years ago with the way they fight.’
Deverakonda called for unity and love among people, urging everyone to move forward together. He stressed the importance of education and happiness for personal and societal progress.
While some people online agreed with his outspoken stance, praising him for addressing this issue publicly, others criticized him for bringing politics into a movie event.
Deverakonda was last seen in the 2024 film The Family Star alongside Mrunal Thakur. He also had a cameo as Arjuna in the Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD. He is currently working on Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Kingdom and another untitled project by Rahul Sankrithyan.
