US Supports India After Pahalgam Attack, China Backs Pakistan’s Call for Impartial Probe

US Offers Support, Avoids Blaming Pakistan
The United States has expressed its support for India following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, but has stopped short of directly blaming Pakistan for the incident. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, has significantly escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.
A spokesperson for the US State Department confirmed that they are in contact with both Indian and Pakistani authorities, urging them to work towards a peaceful resolution. While the US condemns the attack and stands with India, it has not publicly accused Pakistan of involvement.
India Points Fingers, Pakistan Denies Responsibility
India has firmly blamed Pakistan for the attack, while Pakistan has vehemently denied any involvement, calling for an impartial investigation. The situation remains tense, with both nations accusing each other of harboring terrorists.
China Takes Pakistan’s Side
In a development that could raise concerns in New Delhi, China has voiced its support for Pakistan’s call for an impartial investigation into the attack. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke to his Pakistani counterpart, emphasizing China’s understanding of Pakistan’s security concerns and its commitment to regional peace and stability.
Interestingly, this incident marks a shift from China’s stance during the 2019 Pulwama attack, when its envoy was not invited to a similar briefing given to foreign envoys by India. The present situation reflects a relatively improved relationship between India and China, but Beijing’s backing of Islamabad might be a cause for worry for India.
