A grim discovery shook the quiet community of Newcastle, Washington last week. Police responding to a 911 call found a scene of unimaginable horror: blood splattered on a window, a bullet lying in the street, and three lifeless bodies inside a townhouse. The victims were identified as Harshavardhana Kikkeri, a 45-year-old Indian-origin entrepreneur, his wife Shwetha (41), and their 14-year-old son.

Harshavardhana, who founded a robotic company called HoloWorld in his hometown of Mysuru, India, had moved to the US with his family. Sadly, his younger son was not at home during the incident.

According to reports, Harshavardhana’s family in India has been devastated by the news. His mother, Girija, has flown to the US, while his elder brother, Chethan, recently returned to India. Harshavardhana’s father, Kikkeri Narayana, was a well-known linguist and activist.

While authorities have confirmed the deaths, the motive behind this horrifying tragedy remains unclear. They are yet to determine if it was a case of murder-suicide. The Seattle Times reports that the medical examiner ruled Shwetha and the boy’s deaths as homicides, while Harshavardhana’s death was classified as suicide.
