Tragedy in Kishtwar: Soldier Killed in Fierce Gunfight with Terrorists

Tragedy Strikes Kishtwar
A soldier has been killed in action during an intense gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. The incident occurred on Thursday amidst a cordon-and-search operation launched by security forces following credible intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists in the region.
Fierce Exchange of Fire
The exchange of fire took place in the Shingpora area of Chhatru. The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reported that one of their soldiers, a ‘Braveheart,’ sustained critical injuries during the fierce gunfight and succumbed to his wounds despite receiving the best possible medical attention. The operation, however, is still ongoing.
Operation Trashi: Neutralizing the Threat
Earlier, the White Knight Corps had announced the commencement of ‘Op Trashi,’ a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG). The operation aimed to neutralize the terrorists after contact was established with them in Chhatru. Additional troops have been deployed to support the ongoing efforts.
Recent Encounters in the Region
This tragic incident comes after a series of encounters in the Kashmir Valley. Days earlier, three terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Nader Tral area of Pulwama district. This followed the killing of three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in Shopian district during ‘Operation Keller,’ where a significant cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered.
