A devastating fire ripped through a building in Gulzar Houz, a neighborhood near the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad, early Sunday morning, May 18, 2025, claiming the lives of at least 17 people.
Firefighters received an urgent call around 6:30 am and rushed to the scene, where they found numerous individuals unconscious. They were quickly transported to various hospitals, but tragically, many succumbed to their injuries.

The building, which housed both residential apartments and a shopping space, had two narrow entrances, one leading to a first-floor home and the other to the enclosed shopping area. These limited access points hindered rescue efforts and contributed to the high death toll.
