Tourist’s Zipline Video Captures Horrific Pahalgam Terror Attack
A tourist from Ahmedabad, India, found himself in the middle of a terrifying ordeal last week when a terrorist attack unfolded during his zipline ride in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
A Heartbreaking Glimpse
Rishi Bhatt, who was enjoying the ride with his wife and child, unwittingly captured the horrifying scene on video. The footage, which has since gone viral, shows people running for their lives as gunshots ring out. One person is seen falling, apparently after being shot by a terrorist.
In the video, the zipline ride appears to be taking place in a beautiful meadow, a stark contrast to the chaos unfolding below.
Fright and Escape
According to Bhatt, his wife and child completed their zipline rides safely. However, as he began his descent, the firing started.
“When my son and wife reached down safely, and I started my zipline ride, the first shots were fired,” Bhatt recounted. “As soon as I landed, I saw that someone was asked about his religion and then shot.”
Bhatt, who is in the event management business, immediately detached himself from the zipline and fled with his family. They found refuge in a blind spot along with three or four other terrified individuals. After about eight to ten minutes, when the gunfire subsided, they managed to escape.
A Disturbing Scene
Bhatt described the scene as horrific. He said two terrorists were on the ground, questioning people about their religion before shooting them. Others were hidden in the bushes, also firing on the terrified crowd.
He estimated that there may have been four to five terrorists involved in the attack.
Bhatt also noted that there was no visible presence of the Indian Army at the time, and local police were the only security present.
The attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, has sent shockwaves through India.
