Authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir are cracking down on terrorism following the tragic attack in Pahalgam on April 22nd, where 26 people lost their lives, mostly tourists. As part of this crackdown, security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police have demolished the home of an active terrorist identified as Adnan Shafi from Shopian district.

Shafi is believed to be involved in the Pahalgam attack. He reportedly joined a terrorist organization a year ago. This demolition is one of several taken by authorities in recent days against individuals suspected of involvement in the attack.

Other actions include the demolition of the homes of suspects in Bandipora and Chotipora, and the house of another suspected terrorist, Zakir Ahmad Ganie, in Kulgam district. Ganie is believed to have been active in terror activities since 2023.

The authorities have also targeted the home of Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist who is considered the most wanted suspect in the Pahalgam attack. A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been offered for information leading to his arrest.

Guree is believed to have received terror training in Pakistan after illegally traveling there in 2018. Two Pakistani nationals are also considered most wanted in this case.

The Pahalgam attack has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for stricter action against Pakistan. The Indian Army has intensified its search operations to neutralize the terrorists involved in the attack.

In a separate incident, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist associate was killed during an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district. Two security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire.
