India Prepares for Response After Deadly Pahalgam Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking a strong stance after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, India, which claimed the lives of 26 people. He’s scheduled to lead a Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, his first since the attack. This comes after a series of meetings with top security officials and the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.

Modi Vows ‘Crushing Blow’ to Terrorism

In a firm message, Prime Minister Modi stated that India is unwavering in its commitment to fight terrorism. He’s expressed full confidence in the Indian armed forces, giving them the freedom to decide on the best way to respond to the attack, including the targets and timing.

Pakistan Issues Warning

Meanwhile, Pakistan has fired back, claiming that India is planning a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours. Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar made this assertion, stating that India is preparing to launch an attack based on “baseless and concocted allegations” about Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan has warned India that there will be consequences for any such action.

Rising Tensions Along the LoC

The situation along the Line of Control (LoC) remains tense. The recent attack in Pahalgam has further strained relations between India and Pakistan, with both sides exchanging fire for the fourth consecutive day. The 22-year-old ceasefire agreement, which has been frequently violated in recent years, now hangs in the balance.
