SIA Raids Sopore: Crackdown on Terror-Related Activities in Kashmir

SIA Conducts Raids in Sopore, Kashmir
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir has launched raids at multiple locations in Sopore, a town in North Kashmir. These raids are part of an ongoing operation against suspected terror-related activities in the region.
Raids Follow Similar Operations in South Kashmir
This action comes just days after the SIA conducted raids at 20 locations across South Kashmir. The agency stated that these raids were conducted in a case related to the sharing of sensitive information about security forces and vital installations through messaging applications.
According to officials, a significant amount of incriminating material was recovered during the raids in South Kashmir, and suspects are currently being interrogated.
SIA’s Focus on Terror Associates and Online Radicalization
The SIA emphasized that they are actively monitoring terror associates and overground workers (OGWs) operating in Kashmir. Technical intelligence indicates that several sleeper cells in the region have been in direct contact with handlers based in Pakistan. These cells are suspected of conveying sensitive information through messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
The agency also highlighted that these terror associates have been involved in online radical propaganda at the behest of terrorist commanders from Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammed. These activities, according to the SIA, pose a threat to national security and integrity.
What is the State Investigation Agency (SIA)?
Established in 2021, the SIA serves as the primary agency in Jammu and Kashmir for coordinating with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other central agencies. Its mandate includes ensuring the swift and effective investigation and prosecution of terrorism-related cases.
