Shopian Gunfight: 3 Terrorists Eliminated

In a fierce encounter that took place in Shopian district, south Kashmir, on Tuesday, three terrorists were killed by police and security forces. The operation was launched based on intelligence received by the Rashtriya Rifles Unit about the presence of terrorists in the Shoekal Keller area.

Identities Revealed

The slain terrorists have been identified as Shahid Kuttay and Adnan Shafi Dar. Shahid, a resident of Chotipora Heerpora, Shopian, joined the terrorist ranks in March 2023 and was affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). He was classified as a category A militant.

Adnan, hailing from Wanduna Melhora Shopian, joined LeT in October 2024 and was categorized as a category C terrorist.

Shahid’s Past Crimes

Shahid’s involvement in several high-profile crimes came to light. He was linked to the firing incident at Danish Resort in April 2024, injuring two German tourists and a driver. He is also suspected of being involved in the killing of a BJP Sarpanch in Heerpora, Shopian, in May 2024, and the killing of TA Personnel in Behibagh, Kulgam, in February 2025.

Adnan’s Involvment

Adnan was implicated in the killing of a non-local labourer in Wachi, Shopian, in October 2024.
