PM Modi Visits Soldiers at Adampur Airbase Amidst Post-Ceasefire Calm

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to Adampur airbase in Punjab on Tuesday, spending time with soldiers just days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire. This comes after a tense period of cross-border tensions.
The visit was particularly significant as it followed Pakistan’s attempt to attack Indian military installations, including Adampur, after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’. This operation targeted terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last month.
During ‘Operation Sindoor’, India successfully neutralized nine terror sites in Pakistan and PoK, eliminating over 100 terrorists. Pakistan had claimed to have destroyed India’s S-400 air defense system at Adampur with hypersonic missiles, but Indian officials refuted these claims. PM Modi himself addressed the issue by sharing a picture of himself saluting with the S-400’s missile stack in the background.
On X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his gratitude towards the Indian armed forces. He described meeting the air warriors and soldiers as a “very special experience” and emphasized their courage, determination, and fearlessness.
This visit comes on the heels of PM Modi’s nationwide address on Monday, where he hailed the Indian armed forces for their “unwavering courage” during ‘Operation Sindoor’. He highlighted this operation as a “decisive shift” in India’s strategic approach to combating terrorism, setting a “new normal” for counter-terrorism measures.
The Prime Minister also condemned Pakistan’s support for terrorism, citing the attendance of Pakistani military officials at the funerals of terrorists as “strong evidence” of state-sponsored terrorism. He added that the world had once again witnessed Pakistan’s “ugly face” in this regard.
The ceasefire agreement reached last Saturday marked a welcome end to the intense cross-border exchange of drone and missile strikes.
