In the wake of a horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The April 22 attack, considered the deadliest against civilians since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, has sparked widespread condemnation both within India and internationally. Days before the PM’s meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a crucial meeting with top military brass, including the Chiefs of Defence Staff, Army, Navy, and Air Force. This extensive meeting delved into all aspects of the situation arising from the Pahalgam attack.

Sources reveal that Defence Minister Singh has directed the armed forces to enhance their combat readiness and intensify anti-terror operations. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi presented a comprehensive overview of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, including the deployment of troops.
