PM Modi Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Says ‘Terrorists Want Kashmir Destroyed’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, during his monthly radio address, ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He expressed deep sorrow over the incident, where 26 tourists were killed by terrorists on April 22nd.
Modi emphasized that the attack came at a time when peace and prosperity were returning to the region. He pointed out the positive developments in education, infrastructure, democracy, tourism, and youth opportunities in Kashmir. He stated that those behind the attack, the ‘enemies of the country and Jammu and Kashmir,’ sought to destroy this progress.
The Prime Minister assured the nation that the perpetrators and masterminds of the attack would face the harshest possible consequences. He said, ‘I can feel that the blood of every Indian is on the boil after seeing the pictures of the terrorist attack… Friends, the anger that we, the people of India, feel, that anger is there in the whole world… The whole world stands with 140 crore Indians in our fight against terrorism.’
Modi reiterated India’s unwavering resolve in the fight against terrorism, highlighting the unity and solidarity of its 140 crore citizens as its greatest strength. He urged the nation to demonstrate strong willpower in facing this challenge.
This attack follows a pattern of similar incidents in recent years, including the Pulwama attack in 2019 and the Uri attack in 2016. In response to these attacks, India has taken strong diplomatic and strategic steps, including the Balakot airstrike in 2019.
During his address, Modi also paid tribute to the late K Kasturirangan, former ISRO chairman, recognizing his significant contributions to science, education, and India’s space program.
