Tensions Rise After Pakistan Threatens India Over Indus Water Treaty

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has directly responded to a fiery threat made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. Bhutto warned that ‘blood will flow in rivers’ if India stops sharing water from the Indus River, a statement that has sparked outrage in India.

Responding to Bhutto’s comments, Kalyan told reporters, ‘They (Pakistan) should be reminded how they lost the past three wars. We have to send the visuals to them, around 70,000 soldiers, how they were treated. At the same time, if they try to overboard, every Indian will come to Pakistan. If the need arises, we will spill our blood for the nation. He should be reminded of their past.’ Kalyan’s statement comes after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty in response to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

Bhutto’s Warning

Bhutto made his remarks during a public rally in Sindh province, Pakistan, saying, ‘The Indus is ours and will remain ours – either our water will flow through it, or their blood.’ He also claimed that India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot sever the ancient connection between the people of Sindh and the Indus River, stating, ‘We are its true custodians, and we will defend it.’ Bhutto further warned that neither the Pakistani people nor the international community would tolerate any attempts to divert the Indus waters away from Pakistan.

Kalyan’s Criticism of Congress

Kalyan also criticized the Indian Congress party for speaking in favor of Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, suggesting that those who support such violence should leave India and move to Pakistan. He emphasized that supporting Pakistan while living in India is unacceptable and called for national unity and strong action against communal violence.

Kalyan stressed that the Pahalgam attack has deeply wounded the nation and should not be politicized. He said that the nation will not tolerate anyone who endorses anti-India sentiments or terrorism.
