Pakistan’s History of Backing Terrorists: Defence Minister Speaks Out

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Makes Shocking Admission

In a recent interview with Sky News, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif made some pretty startling statements about his country’s past involvement with terrorist groups. He admitted that Pakistan has been supporting, training, and funding these organizations for decades, calling it “dirty work” done for the West, specifically the United States and Britain.

Asif went on to say that this involvement, which started during the war against the Soviet Union in the 1980s and continued after the 9/11 attacks, was a mistake that Pakistan deeply regrets. He argued that Pakistan was essentially used as a “proxy” by these powerful nations, and that it suffered the consequences. He also pointed out that many of the terrorists active today were welcomed in Washington during the 1980s.

Asked about the recent deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India, where 26 people were killed, Asif claimed that the group responsible, The Resistance Front (TRF), doesn’t actually exist in Pakistan anymore. He insisted that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the parent organization of TRF, is extinct in Pakistan, making it impossible for an offshoot to operate there.

When pressed on the possibility of an escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, Asif stated that Pakistan is prepared to respond “in kind” to any attacks from India. He emphasized that Pakistan’s response would be measured and proportional to the aggression it faces, but warned that if India launched a full-scale attack, it would trigger an all-out war.
