Pakistan PM Offers Talks with India for ‘Peace’ Amid Ceasefire Extension

India-Pakistan Ceasefire Continues as Dialogue Offered
The Indian Army announced on Thursday, May 16, 2025, that it will continue to pursue confidence-building measures to ease tensions along the border. This follows a May 10 agreement with Pakistan to cease military hostilities.
Earlier, Pakistan extended the ceasefire arrangement until May 18. Hours after this announcement, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered talks with India, emphasizing Pakistan’s readiness for dialogue aimed at achieving peace.
PM Sharif’s Offer
During a visit to the Kamra air base in Punjab province, where he met with troops involved in recent confrontations with India, PM Sharif stated, “We are ready to talk with it (India) for peace.” He added that a resolution to the Kashmir issue is a key condition for achieving lasting peace between the two nations.
