Operation Sindoor: Widow of Fallen Officer Seeks End to Terrorism
Himanshi Narwal, the wife of Navy officer Vinay Narwal who tragically died in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22nd, praised India’s swift response, ‘Operation Sindoor’. She sees the operation as a testament to her husband’s spirit and India’s unwavering resolve against terrorism and hatred.
The Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly Hindu men, prompted ‘Operation Sindoor’. In the early hours of Wednesday, Indian security forces launched a pre-dawn strike on nine terror posts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a powerful message against the perpetrators.
Himanshi’s photograph, sitting beside her deceased husband, became a poignant symbol of the Pahalgam tragedy, widely shared on social media. Now, she expresses gratitude to the Narendra Modi government for naming the operation ‘Operation Sindoor’ and makes a heartfelt plea for an end to terrorism.
“I am thankful to the government. I also request them to end it here. Make sure that this is just the start of the end of terrorism in this country. Make sure no one ever has to go through what I am enduring right now,” she told PTI.
She shared that her late husband, Vinay, joined the armed forces with a deep commitment to safeguarding the country’s peace. “He wanted to make sure that innocent lives are not lost. He wanted to make sure there was no hatred and terror,” she said.
What Vinay Narwal’s Father Said
Vinay Narwal’s father, Rajesh Narwal, echoed his daughter-in-law’s sentiments, emphasizing the necessity of such a strong response. He believes that the strikes will serve as a deterrent for future attacks, making terrorists think twice before resorting to violence.
“I had said that such a thing (retaliatory strikes) has to be done so that no one dares to do such a cowardly act again…the strikes carried out on the terror targets will resonate in their minds forever,” he said.
During ‘Operation Sindoor’, India targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba base in Muridke, effectively dismantling key terror infrastructure.
