Major Fire Engulfs ED Office in Mumbai

A major fire ripped through the Kaiser-I-Hind building in Mumbai’s Ballard Estate early Sunday morning. The building houses the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office, and the blaze sent a wave of concern through the city.
The Mumbai Fire Department received the first call about the fire around 2:31 am. Firefighters rushed to the scene near the Grand Hotel on Currimbhoy Road, quickly realizing the seriousness of the situation. By 3:30 am, the fire had escalated to Level-II, and just an hour later, it was classified as a major Level-III incident.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The fire was largely confined to the fourth floor of the five-story building. A massive firefighting operation was launched, with eight fire engines, six jumbo tankers, an aerial water tower tender, and a host of other emergency vehicles deployed to tackle the flames.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
