Major Fire at Mumbai ED Office Destroys Important Documents

A big fire broke out at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Mumbai early Sunday morning. The blaze, which reached a level 3 classification (a sign of a major fire), caused significant damage to the office, destroying furniture, computers, and, unfortunately, many important government files.
Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries. Mumbai Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar explained it took time to put out the fire because of the heavy smoke. The ED office is located in the Kaiser-I-Hind building in the Ballard Estate area.
This wasn’t the only fire incident in Maharashtra over the weekend. A massive blaze erupted at a plywood factory in Bhiwandi on Saturday and raged for over 24 hours. The fire caused significant damage to the factory, destroying materials worth a large amount of money. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Firefighters are still working to fully extinguish the flames and clear the debris.
