Karnataka CM Sparks Controversy With Remarks on War With Pakistan

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently found himself in hot water after making comments about the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He said he didn’t think war with Pakistan was necessary right now, attributing the attack to intelligence failures instead.
Siddaramaiah clarified his remarks on social media, saying war should always be a last resort and only considered when all other options have failed. He emphasized the need for the Indian government to address the security lapses that allowed the attack to happen.
While Siddaramaiah welcomed India’s diplomatic actions against Pakistan, he called for stronger measures and warned against those spreading war hysteria. He described Pakistan as a “bankrupt, diseased nation” and urged India to proceed with caution.
Siddaramaiah’s statements didn’t sit well with everyone, particularly the BJP. The party accused him of giving Pakistan a clean chit and justifying their actions. BJP leaders called him a “puppet” of Pakistan and even mocked him as “Halal CM” after Pakistani media highlighted his remarks.
The Pahalgam attack on April 22nd was a devastating tragedy, killing at least 26 people, mostly tourists. Three people from Karnataka were among the victims. The attack has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan, making Siddaramaiah’s comments particularly sensitive.
